What types of organisations can use the FINPOINT platform?

Any UK-based organisation is welcome to post their finance requirements anonymously on our platform; this includes Sole Traders, Partnerships, Limited and Public companies.

A full list of the types of legal structures that are available in the UK along with information about each structure is available on www.gov.uk

Where a user acts as advisor to an organisation with a view to arrange finance, we reserve the right to request evidence from the user about their credit broking permission or evidence about being exempt from FCA regulation.

Will I be charged for using the FINPOINT platform?

FINPOINT has a clear, easy-to-follow fee structure.

The use of the platform is completely free of charge for companies and advisors.

The platform is also free of charge to lenders. Only upon completion of a transaction will the lender be charged a small percentage of the amount lent, (1%-3%), dependant on type of finance product (debt or equity).

Companies

Do I have to search for lenders on FINPOINT?

No. With us, they find you! Like a dating platform, companies with financing requirements are matched with lenders. At first, lenders see all the submitted financing projects anonymised and filtered according to their individual criteria. They then indicate interest in suitable financing projects. All the data is disclosed after accepting a non-disclosure agreement (NDA). The two parties are then in direct contact and can hold detailed talks.

Does FINPOINT offer financing itself?

No – FINPOINT itself does not underwrite any transactions or lend any money.

FINPOINT provides an intermediary service that matches SMEs funding criteria with willing lenders. This process saves SMEs time by sourcing competitive debt/equity finance solutions from willing lenders.

How can I invite my tax advisor to join my financing project?

You send an email within the application to your tax advisor or any kind of advisor. The email sent by FINPOINT contains a validation link. (Tell your advisor about your invitation to FINPOINT, because emails that include a link often end up in the SPAM folder!)

Clicking on the validation link brings your advisor straight to the FINPOINT site where they can see the data you entered. Now they just have to set a password and accept the terms of use. Then they have access to your project data and can create, edit and publish these.

How many companies use the FINPOINT platform?

More than 5,000 companies use FINPOINT in the countries in which we are represented.
Because the numbers are changing all the time, we cannot give out actual figures on individual countries or their user numbers.

Is FINPOINT another ‘peer-to-peer’ or ‘crowd-funding’ platform?

No.

  • We work with banks and financial institutions. As such, we do not offer financing solutions but present all the project financing options available to small to medium-sized companies.
  • Our technology platform helps you to create viable financing projects. These contain all the data we know the lenders need to make a quick decision.
  • You decide who you want to contact you. Our platform anonymises all your data until you allow a lender access to your details. They then have to agree to a non-disclosure agreement before they can contact you directly or see your financing project in full.
  • The use of FINPOINT is free for all parties. If financing is concluded, we charge the lender a ‘transaction fee’.
  • We do not lend money ourselves. We offer a sophisticated solution to offer and enquire about available financing deals .
  • FINPOINT has a friendly, expert support team working for us.
What happens to our data?

Your data is only ever stored centrally on the FINPOINT platform. The FINPOINT principle is to respect anonymity, with maximum data security and data storage. Of course, we never share data with third parties.

What is the average financing amount companies ask for?

Since any type of business can post a finance request on FINPOINT, we see a wide variety of amounts being requested on the platform which makes it difficult to give out meaningful data about ‘averages’.

Also, we are conscious of not wanting to discourage businesses from posting their own unique requirements, which could be the case if their own finance requirement is significantly higher or lower than the average amount may we publish.

Advisors

Can I add a client’s financing project on FINPOINT?

Yes.
When you see the pop-up window, just confirm that you are authorised by the company to do so and are responsible for the data you enter.

How many clients can I manage on FINPOINT?

From just one user account you can help any number of clients to clearly, professionally and attractively present their financing projects.

One of my clients wants to invite me to his financing project. What shall I do?

Usually, accountants or tax advisors are invited to financing projects as experts. But lawyers, brokers, etc. also use FINPOINT for their clients or act on their behalf. Your client can invite you on FINPOINT as a ‘helping expert’.

This is done by means of an email sent to you from within the application.

CAUTION! This email will contain a validation link. As such, you may find that the email ends up in your SPAM folder.

Click on the validation link. This takes you straight to FINPOINT. Check the data entered by your client about you (you can edit or add to this if necessary). Then create a password and accept the terms of use.

You now have access to your client’s project or financing data and can restructure, modify or publish it.

If you are already registered with FINPOINT, the system will recognise you and you only have to enter your password.

What regulation applies to advisor users using the FINPOINT platform?

It is the responsibility of the advisor user to ensure they hold suitable permissions for their own commercial activities and to advise FINPOINT when such a permission ceases to be valid. To notify us of a change in your regulatory status, please use our contact us page.

Registering on the FINPOINT platform as advisor or using the FINPOINT platform as advisor does not extend the FINPOINT FCA permission to any advisor users.

Where a user acts as advisor to an organisation with a view to arrange finance, we reserve the right to request evidence from the user about their credit broking permission or evidence about being exempt from FCA regulation.

For information about the FCA and the relevant regulation for credit broking, please visit https://www.fca.org.uk/firms/credit-broking-rules

Lenders

Can companies see me listed as a lender?

At first, companies can only see and edit their own profile. They cannot see other companies or lenders.

If you indicate interest in a financing project however, the company receives the name of your financial institution.

Can I give colleagues access to my projects?

Yes, the FINPOINT platform lets you invite further employees. Once they register, they are automatically assigned to your financial institution and can oversee financing projects.

Does FINPOINT accept liability for incorrect or incomplete company data?

No. Each company is responsible for its own data. At the latest after the company accepts an indication of interest can you contact the company directly to enter into negotiations and discussions with them personally. The companies that create their financing project on FINPOINT are aware of this.
